Mentoring, not marking
A mentor report never simply tells you whether a drawing is good or bad. It identifies genuine strengths, explains the three areas that would make the greatest difference to your next portrait, and gives you one thing to work on first.
The philosophy is simple: encourage what is working, identify what will make the greatest difference, and give you something practical to do next.
The feedback
A report that reads like a mentor speaking, not a grade
When a spirit portrait teacher (like Anne-Marie) sits beside you with your drawing, they do not begin with a number. They look for what you have already understood — and they tell you. Your report is written the same way.
Your report starts with what is working
Your report first identifies the strengths in your drawing. Knowing what you are already doing well gives you something solid to build on.
It identifies what needs attention
Your main development areas are explained clearly, including what can be seen in the drawing, why it matters and what you can do about it.
It gives you one thing to work on first
Rather than giving you a long list of corrections, your report identifies the one area likely to make the biggest difference to your next portrait.
You get something practical to practise
You receive a short exercise based on your main development area, so you know exactly what to practise before drawing your next portrait.

Mentor Visual — optional
See the teaching, drawn out
Sometimes a sentence about head structure or the placement of an eye line is easier to understand when you can see it. Mentor Visual is an optional artistic teaching interpretation: it shows how some of the structural guidance in your Mentor Report could be applied, while keeping the character, mood and style of the portrait you drew.
This isn't about replacing your drawing with someone else's version. The Mentor Visual simply lets you see the teaching in action, so you can absorb the idea and keep developing it in your own hand.
It is a teaching interpretation only. It is not a corrected portrait, and it never suggests how any person or Spirit communicator actually looked.
Behind | The Spirit Art Mentor Online Programme
Created by Spirit Artist & Tutor Anne-Marie Bond
Spirit Art Mentor was created by Anne-Marie Bond, an experienced Spirit Artist, tutor and digital learning specialist, to give developing artists a practical way to receive structured feedback between classes, workshops and their own drawing practice.
Anne-Marie designed the mentoring framework behind the programme, including the areas assessed, the structure of the Mentor Reports and the way feedback is explained. The assessment system has been developed around the same portrait principles she uses when teaching, including proportion, placement, facial structure, observation and tone.
